Reason for becoming an Adventurer:
I’ve seen many friends impacted by cancer over the years, too many. Elliot’s Army gives me the opportunity to join the fight against cancer with a group of highly motivated and like minded individuals. People who know that problems are only solved if we strive for a solution. So raising funds to support the overall effort is way up there on the motivational ladder for me.
I want to be part of the effort to raise awareness of childhood cancer and the Telethon Adventurers are best way forward for me to do so. It is important that good people, like the Parish and Turner families, know that they are not meeting this challenge alone and for them to know that I believe it must be demonstrated by others in what we do, not just what we say.
No cure was ever found by doing nothing! If the Telethon Adventurers are able to drive the imperative to increase research into childhood cancer then I’m in.
Another driver for me personally is simple and something that has been drummed into me by my parents and grandparents since I was a child. Don’t leave your mates to fight alone. With two relatives and two friends diagnosed with cancer this year their struggle with this disease really hits home.
There are also two other reasons I’m doing this, one is aged 10 and the other is 8.
